Amanda Bossard, fresh out of Anchorage High School, in 1992 began studying marine biology. Bossard began her career in the commercial seafood industry in 1999. That year she worked in Murat Aritan's halibut 65 feet boat, which was later transformed into a fishing tender. Bossard and Aritan are married now and have come together to stake their claim to their respective industries. They're both supporters of conservatism and profitable renewable seafood resource management. In 2007, the mother to two kids Bella age three as well as Andre 1 Bossard before returning to her home in Philadelphia and opened an online direct market wholesale seafood distributor named Otolith. She and her husband are separated by 5 months and she is able to focus on her financial goals and her environmental goals. Bossard along with her two children Andre 10, and Isabella 12 each year return in Southeast Alaska as deckhands to catch wild salmon in summer. In a small 42 salmon troller using hooks and lines to catch their targeted salmon, they work with Aritan to work for the duration of two months of selling to local processors and continuing to grow their direct market seafood products sold through Otolith Sustainable Seafood by way by purchasing custom processing capabilities of small processors who create distinctive wild seafood products that show their commitment to quality and the natural environment.
